University & Pastoral care
Living and studying in London presents all students, and their parents, with new challenges and anxieties. At Duff Miller International we are well aware of these and have a long developed pastoral care system to ensure the happiness and welfare of all students. We are also aware of the importance of direct feedback to parents overseas and actively work to ensure that parents fully understand the progress levels and attainment of their son or daughter.
Personal Tutors
For all young people personal guidance and involvement is critical as they begin to develop and formulate their own ideas and study routines. Every student at the college is assigned a personal tutor on enrolment, who will act as both a mentor and point of contact for the student. They will give clear guidance to the student as well as help the student to overcome any challenges they face. A student’s personal tutor will also act as the point of liaison with the student’s academic tutors. They will work together to ensure the smooth academic development and working patterns required for maximum success.
University Application
Expert guidance is vital in ensuring that a student is successful in their applications to university. The Principal and other senior academic staff are always available to provide expert guidance to individual students and their guardians. In particular we have a strong tradition of placing overseas students at many top universities, including Cambridge, Oxford, The London School of Economics, Imperial College London, University College London , King’s College London and many others. Our aim is always to place our students to the top university offering a suitable course for the continuation of their studies. Where it is required we are also able to provide mock interviews and examination preparation to students.
Accommodation
The college is able, if required, to provide advice and help with finding accommodation in London. As we are situated in the very heart of the capital a large range of options are open to students. Many students choose to live with a British family, ensuring a full development of their English Language skills. Most families will provide morning and evening meals for the student, and will always attempt to integrate the student and make them feel part of the family. In addition we are able to provide places in local student hostels. Many of these are within a short walking distance of the college and provide both single and shared accommodation.
